About

I have 20 years’ experience in consultancy, working across research, engagement, evaluation and organisational development.

A former Head of Engagement and Head of Public Sector at Traverse, I have directed a range of projects and programmes for central and local government, the NHS and national charities. In recent years that work has included designing and leading deliberative processes such as citizens assemblies; public engagement on local futures; support for staff transitioning into new integrated care systems (ICSs) and development programmes with internal teams, Cabinets/exec teams and other governing bodies. Throughout 2025 I’ve been working three days a week with the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting citizen engagement in the area’s biggest regeneration programmes.

The golden thread though all of that has been the question of how to create a space for the right sort of reflection, conversation and collaboration to achieve impact. As well as underpinning much of my project work, this is a topic I have written, presented and delivered training on for the last decade.

Now working under the Public Sphere banner, and drawing on a network of excellent free-lancers from the Traverse and OPM family, my work is helping organisations go further and faster in developing their approaches to staff and public engagement. We all know there are some big challenges facing society and the way we involve a diversity of voices in tackling those challenges will be a major factor in whether or not we succeed.
